Following the Civil War the flags of Wisconsin's Civil War regiments, including these four belonging to the 28th Wisconsin, were stored at GAR Hall in the state capitol. Today the flags are carefully protected and stored at the Wisconsin Veteran's Museum. Conservation efforts are underway to stabilize and preserve the approximately 200 flags in the collection.
